Step 1: Initial Consultation & Proposal
In this phase, information is collected and analyzed. The project team then identifies objectives and considers them in the context of practical parameters such as budget and time frame. The scope and depth of a project begins to materialize during this phase and a cost proposal is presented.
Step 2: Planning & Architecture
The information and materials collected from the client are organized by level of priority. This is where the structure begins to take shape and a prototype (concept) is created. Since most visitors are looking for information, we need to make that information easily accessible and insure that if they move in the wrong direction they can get back on track without getting lost. Define the navigation & flow of the information. Identify resources needed for the project. Decide on the site's overall concept and layout.
Step 3: Design & Implementation
In this phase, the project takes on form in colors, shapes, and other visual or textual elements that bridge the parts of the project developed in the definition and architecture phases. It is in the design phase that a project acquires a look and feel. This is not the only phase in which design plays a part, but it is where the creativity that gives the project its personality is employed, and where the visual metaphors that support and enhance the architecture of the information are devised. Once the navigation and design prototype is approved the project moves into production. During the implementation phase the project comes to life and interactive elements are added. All of the sections are constructed and the content is added as well as any necessary programming or enhancements. Also, include provided materials for use on the Web or CD-Rom as well as implement color palettes, photographs, illustrations, fonts and any further necessary materials.
Step 4: Testing & Analysis
When the production of the project is complete it is place on the Web in a "client testing" directory or in the case of an Interactive Presentation, is burned to a CD-Rom. During this phase we will go through the project with a fine-toothed comb making sure all interactive components are working properly. In addition we will test on multiple platforms using different Web browsers and/or Operating Systems, resolutions and color depths. In the case of a Web Design project, various connection rates are tested ensuring that the final product is accessible to the widest range of Internet users. Any inconsistencies and errors will be corrected at this time.
Step 5: Launch & Follow Up
After rigorous testing the project is finalized. After it has been launched we will meet with the client's team if requested to review the initial reactions and plan any additional development, maintenance or training.
